The winter months are the best time to enjoy the California desert!
The sky is blue, the temperature is perfect and the wonderful smell of the Creosote bush
in bloom is everywhere.
Join us for a weekend, near the Salton Sea, in the Mojave Desert for this hotel based event.
This is a weekend of wheeling in the mud hills, notches, soft sand, steep hills, and tight canyons.
It will test your skill, your vehicle, and your resolve.
The difficulty will range from 3.5 to 3.5+. You are guaranteed to get “cross axled”.
There is some risk of damage to your vehicle.
Friday night, make your way to Borrego Springs and check into the Palm Canyon Resort.
If you get there early enough you can
go for a swim in one of their two pools.
We will start at 8 am Saturday morning for a day of 4-wheeling in the some of the best off-road trails California has to offer.
Bring a folding chair for a relaxing lunch under the Desert sun.
When you quite shaking from the morning adrenalin rush,
it is back on the trail for another go-round.
Then plan on a Rib barbeque back at the hotel!
On Sunday morning get up early to be ready by 8 am for a "almost" sunrise trail ride before it is time to pack up
and head home.
You need a street legal, insured 4WD with a low range transfer case. You must have at least one tow hook (or tow point) on the front and one on the rear.
You need a CB radio (hand held will work) and no side steps. Recommended items include a tow strap (no metal hooks on the ends), a first aid kit,
a fire extinguisher, and a Hi-lift jack.
Full size vehicles need to have some lift and a locker is not a bad idea.
You have a higher risk of body damage.
All vehicles can expect some "pin striping" from the trail side bushes and possibly damage from canyon walls.
We will settle into the Palm Canyon resort on Friday and enjoy all they have to offer.
Saturday expect a full day of technical
Wheeling. Bring soft drinks, water and a lunch.
Saturday night we have until 9 pm to get our share of the Rib barbeque.
Of course, we plan to be back at a reasonable time but "stuff happens"!
On Sunday morning, rise early, eat a light breakfast
if you want, and its back on the trail for more fun.
This trip includes great challenges and lots of fun.
Throw your necessities into your rig and head out as early as you can on Friday!
The cost per vehicle is for up to 2 people for the weekend.
This includes two night stay at the Palm Canyon Resort in
Borrego Springs,
a Barbeque Rib dinner Saturday night, and breakfast Saturday and Sunday, as well as great
wheeling.
Trail Rating
3.5 Roads in difficult terrain; expect to drag front, rear, or middle occasionally.
Excellent stock truck or utility vehicle required, with considerable
driving skill needed.
3.5+ This is not quite a "4" but too much challenge for some stock vehicles.
NOTE: At all times, plans and itinerary is subject to change due to weather and unforeseen events.
